Baptism

In a convoluted way, it started with my son's baptism video being seen by my best friend Jenny and ended, with this video, at Applegate Calvary Chapel near Medford, Oregon. There, on May 16, 2010, I was baptized. The Holy Spirit was in my heart and I felt wonderful! Pastor Ben's evangelical will was persuasive and charismatic and honest for me that day. I had never been to Applegate before. It is a wonderful chapel; the people are warm and friendly, the burgers are tasty and the worship music, inspired.

Thanks to Mikel for taking time so I could have pictures of my baptism. Thanks to Phil and his family for his prayers on my new relationship with Jesus. Thanks to the pastor team for the extra prayers and insights on baptism and Jesus. You are all awesome people and a blessing to me and many others, I am sure. God Bless you all. And.. a special thanks to my son, Ethan, for leading the way, with his baptism. Without that, I may still be lost. You are my greatest earthly joy, son, and I love you very much. God bless you, son.

Go Cart Fun

We got the plans out of a cub scout activity book. It wasn't all that comlicated to build. Ethan did most of the wrenching and drilling, I the cutting. We bought the wheels at the Habitat for Humanity store in Grass Valley. They have a lot of cool stuff there. The nuts, bolts and lag screws came from good old Sierra Hardware. Cool stuff there, too. The wood came from the back yard stash. An $8.00 go-cart! Watch out Mario!

Kiss Detector

Mom gave Ethan an electronic snap circuit kit by Elenco this last Christmas. Very fun, very educational, for ages "8 to 108." Anyway, we are doing project #246, a 2 finger touch lamp which consists of an npn transistor (npn?), a couple of resistors, an LED diode, power source and a kiss, or bodily bridging of contacts, if you will. Ethan came up with the idea of using a kiss.

If you have a child who is interested in the physical sciences, I recommend this kit. It's as interesting for parent as for child. The project illustrations make it simple to build any circuit listed. If you don't believe, I can even build a lie detector to prove it.

Ethan's Baptism

Recently my son was baptised at Twin Cities Church in Grass Valley, California. It was a highly spiritual moment for him, as it was for me. I captured the moment. God Bless!

Underground Construction

I recently switched employers and am lucky to be employed, the way things are these days. I've been working in Oakland on a PG&E project where we tunneled under a sub station for underground utility cables. I've learned a great many things on this job, which has lasted about 2 months. We are finishing the tunneling, so I will be moving on next week. It's been professionally refreshing. No safety shortcuts.
